Can’t Use My Lotion or Foundation for 30-40 Days

Dr. Simeons wrote, “Most women find it hard to believe that fats, oils, creams, and ointments applied to the skin are absorbed and interfere with weight reduction by HCG just as if they had been eaten. This almost incredible sensitivity to even such very minor increases in nutritional intake is a peculiar feature of the HCG method.”

Because of the body’s “incredible sensitivity” to oils and fats, either put IN or ON the body when HCG is present, a person should be mindful of everything that comes into contact with the skin as well as everything that is eaten. Did you ever read the label of a product that gets applied to the skin like hydrocortisone cream and notice that it says to “consult your doctor if you are pregnant before using this medication”? In the past, I noticed that warning on some boxes and dismissed it thinking “There they go again…overboard with warnings! How in in the world could something that gets rubbed on the skin affect a pregnant person?” My question was answered a few years later when I learned about and participated in the HCG Diet Protocol.

The skin is the body’s largest organ and an adult, on average, has 22 square feet of skin which weighs about eight pounds. When HCG is present in the system, either naturally due to pregnancy or because a person is taking HCG to aid with fertility, weight loss, etc., the skin acts different. The pregnant body was designed to provide nutrition for a growing baby and since mothers-to-be commonly suffer from morning sickness and nausea, the body fights to obtain nourishment (calories) anyway it can, including absorption through the skin. When the skin of a person with HCG in his or her system absorbs fats and oils, the body is getting nutritional value, translation – extra calories! For example, a customer of ours, who was doing very well on the diet, had dry skin and decided to apply cocoa butter over her entire body. She was UP 4 pounds the next day as a result!

Extra calories on the HCG Diet will usually keep the diet from working properly. Why? The HCG Diet works because when the body is on very-low calorie intake, it is forced to tap into abnormal fat deposits for the nutrition that it needs. The result is rapid weight loss, especially from the “problem” areas of the body where the abnormal weight accumulates.

Now that you know why you shouldn’t use most regular lotions, you’re probably wondering what products you can use to moisturize your skin. At Pounds and Inches Away, we advise a person on the HCG Diet to use only mineral oil, baby oil or 100% aloe gel (with no Vitamin E or other additives). We also recommend using the Tiffalina’s oil-free products that we sell on our website, since this line of products was formulated specifically for the HCG Protocol. My final word of advice…closely monitor what goes in your mouth and on your skin because the HCG Diet is a “touchy” one.
